The short version
Universal Exports is a personal car broker. We find cars for first-time buyers, list vehicles on behalf of independent motor dealers, answer buyers' questions, and arrange viewings. To do that, this site collects the details you choose to send us: the answers to our buyer questionnaire, an enquiry about a car, or your name and WhatsApp number for the First-Look list, plus the ordinary measurement described below. We never sell your information.
Who is responsible
Universal Exports, trading on uxpo.co, is the data controller for information submitted through this site. You can reach us about anything on this page at hello@uxpo.co or on WhatsApp at 07466 730122.
What we collect
- Buyer questionnaire. When you answer the six questions on uxpo.co/buy we collect your first name, your mobile number, your postcode, your budget band, what the car needs to do, when you plan to buy, a link to any car you have already found, whether you have ticked the box to be messaged on WhatsApp, and a record of your consent (the date, time and the exact wording you saw). We also record which advert or page brought you to the questionnaire, so we know which of our adverts work.
- The callback. Sending the questionnaire asks us to call you on the number you gave. We call from 07466 730122, normally within five minutes. If you chose "just looking" we send you the check sheet instead and do not call unless you ask us to.
- Enquiry details. Your name, your mobile or WhatsApp number, your message, which car you asked about, and where you found the listing, when you submit an enquiry form or message us.
- First-Look list details. Your name, your WhatsApp number, and a record of your consent (the date, time and the exact wording you agreed to) when you join the First-Look list.
- WhatsApp conversations. When you message us on WhatsApp we hold the conversation, the same as anyone you message does. WhatsApp itself is provided by Meta under its own terms.
- Page measurement. We count visits to our vehicle pages so we know which listings are working. This records the page viewed and a one-way scrambled form of your IP address; it does not identify you by name.
- Advertising measurement. We use the Meta pixel so that we can measure how our adverts and listings perform and show relevant cars to people who have visited this site. When you complete the buyer questionnaire we also tell Meta that a questionnaire was completed, using Meta's Conversions API, so that Meta can match it to the advert you saw. What we send is scrambled (hashed) before it leaves our server: a one-way scrambled form of your mobile number, first name and postcode, together with the technical details Meta uses to recognise the advert click. Meta cannot read the original values from what we send, and we send no free-text answers. You can control this through your browser's cookie settings and through Meta's ad preferences.
- Standard server logs. Our host, Cloudflare, records requests to the site, including IP address, in the ordinary course of serving and protecting it.
We do not collect payment details on this site, and we never ask for them here or anywhere else. You never pay Universal Exports anything.
Why we hold it, and on what basis
- Calling you back about the questionnaire, answering your enquiry and arranging a viewing. Legitimate interests. You asked us to find you a car or asked about one; calling you back and arranging the viewing is the point of the exercise.
- WhatsApp messages and First-Look messages. Consent. You only receive them if you ticked the box, and every message tells you how to stop. Reply STOP at any time and they end.
- Advertising measurement. Consent, managed through your browser and device settings.
Where it goes
A questionnaire or an enquiry produces a notification to our phone and a record in our buyer list. The processors involved are Cloudflare (hosting, delivery and a short-term copy of every lead so nothing is lost if another service is down), ntfy.sh (the phone notification), Airtable (the buyer list), WhatsApp/Meta (messaging) and Meta (the pixel and the Conversions API, described above). Each holds the data on our instructions or under its own published terms.
The selling dealer. When you book a viewing, we pass the dealer your first name and your contact number so they know who is coming. That is the only point at which your details reach a dealer, and we pass nothing else.
We do not sell your information, and we do not pass it to anyone else.
How long we keep it
Questionnaire answers and enquiries that do not lead anywhere are deleted within 24 months. First-Look and WhatsApp details are kept while you are on the list; reply STOP and we stop messaging you, keeping only the minimal record needed to honour that request. Consent records are kept for as long as the law expects us to be able to evidence them.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR you can ask for a copy of what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, ask us to delete it, withdraw consent, or object to us holding it at all. Email hello@uxpo.co or message the WhatsApp number above and we will deal with it within one month. If you are not happy with how we have handled it, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
One thing worth repeating
Universal Exports is an independent introducer. The cars we put in front of you are sold by a motor trader (named on each listing page where one appears), and any information you give that trader at a viewing or during a purchase is handled under the trader's own privacy arrangements, not ours. When you book a viewing we pass the trader your first name and contact number, and nothing else.
