Energy was Vauxhall's value-loaded Corsa trim, and the LED daytime running lights are what give it away in the mirror of the car ahead. Automatic lighting control and rain-sensitive wipers came with the same package, so the car has already dealt with dusk and drizzle before you think about reaching for anything.
Energy models left the factory on 16-inch alloy wheels with front fog lights, kit that was optional or simply missing further down the Corsa range. Underneath is the 1.4-litre petrol, which meets Euro 6 and is therefore ULEZ compliant. Drive it into central London and it costs you nothing beyond the fuel.
This is the one you will be grateful for in February. Energy trim came with electrically heated front seats and a heated leather-covered steering wheel as standard, not ticked as options, and not something you would expect at this end of the market. Add the IntelliLink touchscreen with DAB and Bluetooth, air conditioning and parking sensors, and there is very little left on the list to want.
